Shading the male figure in swim trunks:
Under drawing with a light pastel or marker.
Shading: working with spot light and/or squint your eyes and focus on shadows, by putting them in and seeing them as shapes.
Highlight: Same process.
At the end, render with Prisma the details and contours of the figure.
On left: Reviewing legs. Always find the S-curve.
This is the shadow light exercise we did in class:
1. Under drawing with pastel
2. Creating the silhouette around figure (1 line only)
3. Putting shadows in (with the side of 1/2 inch ling pastel)
4. Putting highlights in (with the side of 1/2 inch ling pastel)
Reviewing torso, finding eliptical spirals.
Hand studies:
Great exercise w/o a model. Drawing your right hand with your left and vice-versa. Contour style, 1 line only.
Seeing the hand as a shape working with silhouette.
Constructing (boxing in) the hand the "regular" way.

The male face:
Be aware the eyes are in the center of the crown and chin.
Front view: Starting with a light pastel or marker under drawing. Working with Prisma and a fine, soft line, starting nose, nose drills, eyes, eyebrows, lips and THEN at the end we frame and balance the facial outline.
Profile: Starting with a light pastel or marker under drawing. Then following the profile with Prisma and THEN working on facial features.
Eventually we'll simplify and edit the male fashion face, idealizing it depending on desired style.
