The edited illustrated face:
LESS IS MORE! Don't over render with Prisma!
Suit with stripes:
The stripe follows the body contour. It follows folds, wrinkles, movement of the body.
Always see the body beneath!
Drawing the face in an very edited version, just marker, shadow shapes:
A face could always stay like that in a drawing.
The face continued:
Be always careful with how much Prisma rendering you ad in a face: Most of tye time, less is more.
Left and right handed 3-minute warm ups:
Drawing the walking figure and rendering drapey jersey cover ups:
2 minute dynamic action poses:
working with a marker, brush and point tip: Starting with point tip, refining and shading or adding garment stripe (in this case) with brush tip.
Non dominant hand exercises:
many times drawings done with our non dominant hand are more accurate.
Dynamic gesture/ action pose:
1) Trying to do the under drawing in 2 minutes, to catch the movement.
2) Improve, correct under-drawing.
3)On top page, draw silhouette of outfit with Prisma (few, clean lines, focusing on the proportion of the garment).
4)Adding shadows and folds of the garment with marker.
20 minutes total time:
2 minutes under drawing
3 minutes correction, editing
4 minutes creating the silhouette of outfit
3 minutes adding shadows and folds
Model takes a break:
To be continued on next page/image:
Dynamic gesture/ action pose:
From previous page:
1) Trying to do the under drawing in 2 minutes, to catch the movement.
2) Improve, correct under-drawing.
3) On top page, draw silhouette of outfit with Prisma (few, clean lines, focusing on the proportion of the garment).
4) Adding shadows and folds of the garment with marker.
5) Model takes a break:
During the model break, students can block in the color of the garment with marker, refine and accentuate Prisma lines, work on face, hands, feet/shoes.
6) Model returns for 8 minutes:
Finish and complete drawing, shade and highlight and refine.
25 minutes total time:
2 minutes under drawing to catch movement
3 minutes correction, editing
4 minutes creating the silhouette of outfit
3 minutes adding shadows and folds
5 minutes: model is on break: blocking in color work on things possible w/o model
8 minutes with the model to complete shadows, folds, hands, feet faces.
Facial expressions:
Basics of head drawing should be strong.
Focus on facial expression of model and study how the face changes if feelings are expressed: E.g: Angry, happy, sad etc. Eyebrows are closer or further away from the eyes, eyes are closer or larger, lip expression etc.
