In this weeks task we will wrap up our first semester of Sophomore model drawing:

 

We will prepare on-line and draw in class: (all on-line tasks are marked in red)

 

Learning objectives:

 

Students will be working independently for three hours (in class): This will also function as their final exam, to display what they've learned during their first semester of Sophomore model drawing, including online preparations:

 

 

Test procedures:

 

Instructor will NOT correct drawings during this 3 hour (in class) test, except commenting their work.

After drawings are completed there will be a brief critique at the end of class.

The final exam will be graded (based on rubric, see B&C week 5).

Instructor will give individual feedback on-line.

 

Students will be able to prepare for this task (on-line AND in class), being able to go through the whole semester of work accessing my e-portfolio (see links below) and the following examples below:

Final test (taken in class, drawing from a life model): Written only overview. Details and examples below:

 

Preparation is done in class AND online:

 

Tasks and timing:

 

1) Bathing suit exercise:

Students will draw the model in bathing suit, one front and one back view (or side or 3/4 quarter angles).

Drawing includes finished edited fashion faces and rendered bodies and suits (incl. shadow/light).

Time: 25 minutes each.

 

2)Junior sportswear:

Students will draw the model in a variety of simple junior sportswear, layering garments and composing 2 figures on a page.

Time: 20 minutes each.

 

3) Tracing paper exercise:

Students continue drawing the model in bathing suit (10 min. each) and then repeat pose in sportswear, rendering the clothes on tracing paper (15 minutes each). Have them secure the tracing paper with tape on top of the first pose.

 

4) Head, hands and feet/shoe studies:

Students will draw from the model (using their templates), head and shoulders, full, 3/4 and profile views. Head/face studies: 10 minutes each. Hands and shoes the same time.

 

Drawings will be collected at the end of class and graded (based on rubric, see B&C week 5)

2) Add shadows and highlights (either little pastel or prisma)

3) Render with prisma softly

4) Add contrasts and accents

 

On-line: Review all posted pages (instructor e-portfolio and O-space postings) regarding our test. Also watch drawing demo video again (from first half of semester, drawing the male figure in clothes).
