Drawing sometghing geometric from an image/life model:
A big pad helps to estimate the horizon and vanishing points (VP's):
-Review image
-Align marker/ruler to angles (Vanishing lines/base of Lego)
-Sketch a quick (15 min.) marker sketch (don't use a ruler yet) with Copic or another light marker.
-Measure, count observe negative space (s)
-Make sure drawing fills page but doesn't get too big
-Once happy with sketch, compare to image
-Then you can use REAL VP's and draw out with a ruler
Shoe drawn from a model:
-Also here it is important to understand the location of your horizon and VP(s).
-But if well observed you could draw this shoe just based on shape.
-Measure negative space(s)
-Render leather as taught previously.
Render black leather:
Materials used:
Black marker base. Blocking out.
Light grey and white pastels.
Cotton squares and electrical eraser.
White Prisma or gouache for zipper.
Grey shades for metal heel. Contrast.
